Baby in Name Only
The Baby Limus has long been a favorite for riders looking to stay fast and confident in mixed conditions. Now, it’s all grown up. The 38mm Baby Limus brings extra volume to a proven tread, giving you more comfort and stability without sacrificing the grip you know and love. It has the smaller and shorter Limus style lugs running down the center it also has the heavier Limus side-lug for when you really need that traction just before slipping.
This is a great all around tread for those that race in an area where it tends to be slightly wetter or slicker. It can handle almost all conditions even up to some slick mud. It's not as fast as the Grifo or Chicane on really dry hard pack but it doesn't sacrifice much when it comes to grass. Loose dirt and rocks are where this tread excels.
This tire is a 38 in size. Currently these are legal in most all USA Cycling races (Not legal in Junior 17-18, U23, and Elite National Championships - Legal for Junior 15-16 and Masters National Championships). They are not currently legal for use in UCI World Championships across the board. This is the "PRO" casing meaning it is 300 TPI and is made of "SuperPoly" instead of Cotton. This is a Tubeless Tire
Rob's Take: "Listen - if you're an Amateur in the sport and only have one wheelset that happens to be tubeless/clincher then you really can't go wrong with this large volume grippy tire. It is still faster rolling than it's big brother the Limus and with the larger air volume in the 38mm size you get this nice tradeoff in pressure drop that you can run while still not running into trouble."
Leah's Take: "I like the cornering traction in slimy or slippery conditions that the Baby Limus provides. Sometimes I put it on the front for added traction if I am running Grifos but need a little extra grip in the corners. I really like how aggressive the side lug is on the Baby Limus. It gives me confidence. I don't have any direct experience with these in the 38 size but knowing they are actually legal to use in my specific competitions including National Championships does peak my interest."
Tim's Take: "Great Tire to use for the early mornings when the dew is high and the track may be slick. Fantastic all conditions mud tire. If you don't mind sliding a little more in heavier mud and want something not as heavy and slow as it's big brother Limus then choose the Baby. For those times when it's dry and fast and your style is aggressive, it also works well as a front tire only option when combined with a faster rear tire like a Grifo or Chicane."
