Stepping up to the Challenge Getaway helped me feel more surefooted in those situations. In addition I found the tire also excelled in hardpack conditions and regular crushed limestone and pavement riding as well. It has a pronounced center tread pattern that is fairly solid. You get a reduced contact patch on pavement but the comfort and air volume of the gravel tire. I started on the 36mm version but found that my times and speeds increased on the 40mm version. To the point where I was beating Strava segments I had set on the road even back when I was riding a road bike all the time.
